Nadia Fekry’s story began at 11 months old when she fell down the stairs and became paralyzed. However, her paralysis was not an obstacle to achieving her goals! While at university, Nadia discovered her love for weightlifting and enrolled in national championships. The international champion kicked off her international journey with her first silver medal at the 1997 European Weightlifting Championship, 27 years ago!

And then her journey with weightlifting thus began when she won the gold medal in the 67.5 kg category at the 1998 World Championships and participated in the Paralympic Games for the first time in the Sydney 2000 edition and snatched the bronze medal, making her total medal count 7- a true queen!

Somewhere along that journey, she met Salah, her current husband, who was also a Paralympian champion in sitting volleyball, and they built a beautiful family together. After reaching a point where she’s accomplished everything, with nothing more to prove to herself, she stayed at home to raise her kids. However, the sports participation itch wanted to be scratched one more time.

After setting competitions out for more than 16 years, Nadia wanted to participate again and signed up for the Paris Paralympics 2024, and boy- she set an amazing example for each woman in Egypt!

At 50 years old- might I add, she managed to snatch the bronze medal, making us all proud! Her amazing Zaghroota warmed all of our hearts. A true champion, and QUEEN!
