Young Egyptian Travels Solo from Basyoun, Gharbia to Mecca by Bicycle in 32 Days for Umrah

Mohamed El-Masry embarked on his journey from Basyoun, passing through Tanta, Banha, Ain Sokhna, Zaafarana, Hurghada, and Safaga. From there, he took a ship to Dhiba, Saudi Arabia, and has now reached Umluj. He will continue his journey by bicycle to Mecca equipped with clothes, bicycle maintenance tools, medicines for cold and heat, a tent, canned food, dates, and water.

A passion for exploring

At 30 years old, Mohamed started his passion for cycling in 2014 and founded the ‘Exploring Our Country by Bicycle’ team to organize trips to various Egyptian governorates.

El-Masry, who has been cycling around Egypt since 2014, aims to explore his homeland, promote cycling culture, and preserve the environment. He sees this journey as a personal milestone and a dream come true, as it will be a record-setting feat beyond Egyptian borders, inspiring many young enthusiasts.

 

Touring Egypt one bike ride at a time

During his journey, Mohamed El-Masry is also actively documenting his experiences, capturing over 30 videos daily to share his incredible adventure.

Mohamed El-Masry has undertaken several bicycle journeys within Egypt, including a 1,100-kilometer trip from Cairo to Aswan, a 1,200-kilometer journey from Cairo to Marsa Alam, a 1,000-kilometer expedition from Cairo to Luxor, a 300-kilometer ride from Cairo to Alexandria, and a 200-kilometer adventure from Cairo to Port Said.
