The Egyptian artistic community is mourning the loss of actor Mustafa Fahmy, who passed away on Wednesday morning after a brave battle with illness and a brief treatment journey.

He Kept His Illness Private

Many in the industry were unaware of Fahmy’s health struggles, as he chose to keep his condition private and requested his family not to discuss it, despite facing significant challenges.

A close source revealed to “Al Arabiya.net” and “Al Hadath.net” that Fahmy discovered he had a brain tumor and underwent several medical tests in May after experiencing persistent headaches. The medical team advised him to have delicate surgery to remove the tumor.

Facing New Challenges

The source shared that he did undergo surgery in August at a hospital in Mohandessin, Giza, and initially showed some improvement, even returning home to Agouza. However, he soon began to feel additional pain, leading doctors to find that the tumor had returned.

Despite the surgery, the tumor grew rapidly, affecting his health further, and he had to visit the hospital frequently. Tragically, just before his passing, his family tried to take him to the hospital, but he passed away before the ambulance could arrive.

A Rich Artistic Legacy

Mustafa Fahmy, born in August 1942, graduated with a degree from the Cinema Institute, majoring in cinematography. Throughout his illustrious career, he was involved in numerous films and TV dramas.

He started his journey in the arts as a cinematography assistant on the film “Amira Habibi Ana,” released in 1974. His last project was a role in the film “Al-Sarb,” which recently enjoyed great success at the box office, featuring stars like Ahmed El Sakka, Diab, Sherif Mounir, and Amr Abdel Galil, with a script by Omar Abdel Halim and directed by Ahmed Nader Galal.
