Naguib Sawiris Donated $100K to Support Gaza Families in Egypt

Sometimes, a brief encounter can spark a ripple of change that touches countless lives. That was the case when Palestinian journalist Moataz Azaiza met Egyptian businessman Naguib Sawiris briefly in Dubai.

What seemed like a simple meeting became a turning point. When Moataz returned to Egypt to assist families in urgent need—many of whom had previously reached out to his foundation—he came prepared to cover medical devices, treatment, and urgent procedures with $50,000 allocated by his foundation.

To his surprise, Sawiris generously contributed an additional $100,000, doubling the resources available to support those in need. The donation was dedicated entirely to helping families from Gaza living in Egypt, ensuring that ongoing humanitarian responses could continue despite the financial and emotional strain many families had endured.

“This reminds us that even brief encounters can leave a lasting impact when hearts align to help others,” Moataz said. The foundation also emphasized that all assistance was delivered with dignity and privacy, requiring only basic ID documentation for record-keeping—never shared or displayed elsewhere, except with official authorities when necessary.

Thanks to Sawiris’ generosity, the foundation was able to expand its efforts quietly and effectively, reinforcing the idea that compassion and timely support can create meaningful change, even from a chance meeting.
