New Visa Measures for Canadians Entering Egypt

Raghda Salah Embaby

Starting in October, Canadian passport holders will face revised entry visa measures when traveling to Egypt. The Egyptian embassy announced that Canadians will no longer have the option to obtain a visa upon arrival at any of the country’s entry ports. Instead, they will be required to apply for an entry visa in advance through one of the Egyptian Embassies or Consulates located abroad.

For Canadian citizens with Egyptian heritage, the Egyptian government is offering two options. They can either obtain a free visa from Egyptian embassies and consulates abroad or choose to get a paid entry visa upon arrival.

Obtaining a free visa from embassies and consulates merely necessitates providing proof of Egyptian nationality, such as a birth certificate, a national ID card, or a passport. This option offers a straightforward and cost-effective way for Canadian Egyptians to access their ancestral homeland.

Alternatively, those who prefer to secure their visa upon arrival will need to obtain a certificate proving their Egyptian nationality from Egyptian embassies and consulates abroad beforehand. This additional step may involve some paperwork but allows travelers the flexibility to make spontaneous trips to Egypt without the prior visa application process.

The highlight though is this Tiktok video in which a content creator humorously and effortlessly clarifies the latest Egyptian visa prerequisites for Canadians.
