Egyptian Ambassador to Paris announced earlier last week that the Sarcophagus of Ramses II and some of his possessions will be showcased in La Villette Museum in Paris.
The museum also showcases 181 artifacts of Ramses II’s possessions that are being showcased for the first time outside of Egypt.
It’s important to note that this is the first time the sarcophagus leaves Egypt in 47 years and will remain in the museum for 5 months starting April 6th.
“The museum was met with great anticipation from the French crowd and sold almost 165K tickets since its opening and is expected to house 10K visitors a day” Dr. Moustafa Waziri, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities stated.
