In an accident that shocked Egyptians, a 12-car collision led to the injury of 26 people in one of Ring Road’s more gruesome accidents. Investigations by the security services in Giza revealed that the cause of today’s Ring Road accident was the driver of the transport vehicle falling asleep, which caused the car to spin and then overturn, resulting in 22 private cars, a microbus, a transport vehicle and a taxi colliding with it while it was stopped at the accident site.
As a result of the accident, 26 people were injured, 13 of whom were transported to Sheikh Zayed Specialized Hospital and Al-Haram Hospital, while 13 others were treated at the scene.
Sources confirmed to Al-Osboa News Agency that there have been no deaths so far.
Several citizens posted a video clip on social media pages from the scene of the accident, confirming that the beginning was a collision between two transport vehicles, one of which was carrying construction materials, “sand,” which caused several cars to stop on the road.
Eyewitnesses also added that a heavy transport vehicle came from behind and ran over the cars parked due to the accident, destroying more than 12 cars, including owners and transporters.
Immediately upon receiving the report, the security forces and ambulances moved to the scene of the accident to transport the injured to the hospital and determine the causes and circumstances of the accident.
For its part, the Ministry of Health and Population announced that 12 ambulances were sent to the site of the accident, explaining that the accident did not result in any deaths, while 24 citizens were injured. Ambulance services were provided to 11 of them at the accident site, and the others were transferred to Al-Haram Hospital and Sheikh Zayed Hospital.
