Yesterday, the news of El Galala bus accident went viral on social media platforms, traumatizing everyone with the accident’s severity. The bus, which was heading from El Galala University back to the University dorms in El Ain El Sokhna, tragically crashed, leaving at least 12 students killed and about 33 others injured.

After the news broke out, Suez and Cairo residents came out in solidarity with the victims’ families through wholesome initiatives. Multiple on-ground eyewitnesses have reported that some residents prepared meals and beverages and started distributing them to families waiting to receive news about their children.

One eyewitness wrote, “The Galala University incident is very painful. May God have mercy on the deceased and grant their families patience. In the middle of this sad, black picture, there is a bright spot and an epic story about the people of Suez,”

He continued, “The chivalrous men of Suez made meals, brought juice and water, and distributed them at the hospital and the morgue. May God make us always support each other in joy and sadness, and may God make it the last of sorrows.”

University Doctor offered her Chalets in Ain El Sokhna to host victims’ families:

While some think offering beverages and food to waiting families is enough; this university doctor surprised everyone when she offered her Ain El Sokhna chalets to host families of El Galala bus accident victims. Dr. Shaima Al-Qassas, a chalet owner in an Ain El Sokhna resort, confirmed in exclusive statements to Cairo 24 that she will host the families of the victims in her private chalets, free of charge.

Al-Qassas said: “The incident is painful, and all the families are anxious and worried, wanting to check on their children due to the lack of confirmed information so far. In a situation like this, we all need to help and stand by each other because we are all Egyptians and brothers.”

She added: “I own chalets in Sokhna and have left the keys with the person in charge there. I decided to open my chalets for free accommodation to host the families of the victims and students. I will do everything I can, as much as God enables me.”

She continued: “This is a humanitarian act, and I’m not afraid of anything. We all need to help each other, and I hope that everyone who can contribute in any way does so without delay.”
