A photo circulating on social media shows students from the Al-Muqrabiyah village in Qena’s Qous district crossing a canal using a palm trunk on their way to school. The image has sparked significant controversy, prompting a swift response from local authorities.
Dr. Mohamed El-Sayed, the Deputy Minister of Education in Qena, stated in an exclusive interview with Al-Masry Al-Youm that an immediate investigation was launched. El-Sayed explained that the community had placed the palm trunk as a makeshift solution to ease access, inadvertently encouraging students to use it as well. He noted that the local education director in Qous will communicate with the head of the local unit to address the situation.
The incident highlights ongoing concerns about student safety and infrastructure in rural areas, emphasizing the need for proper access solutions to ensure that students can reach school safely.
