After a 15-year pause, a high-level Egyptian economic delegation arrived in Damascus, marking a significant reset in bilateral engagement.
During the visit, President al-Sharaa emphasized that ties between Syria and Egypt are essential, especially at a moment when economic recovery and regional coordination matter most.
Discussions centered on strengthening trade channels, broadening economic cooperation, and unlocking new investment opportunities. The talks also reflected a practical outlook: rebuilding trust through commerce, partnerships, and long-term planning rather than one-off gestures.
President al-Sharaa expressed heartfelt gratitude for Egypt’s long-standing support of Syrian refugees throughout the war years. He described the welcome extended to Syrians as a widely recognized act of compassion from the Egyptian people—one that went beyond policy and reflected genuine human solidarity.
That appreciation resonated on both sides, reinforcing a people-to-people bond that has endured despite years of regional upheaval.
Calling the partnership a duty rather than a choice, al-Sharaa outlined concrete steps to deepen cooperation. Syria, he said, is ready to facilitate Egyptian investments, particularly across agriculture, textiles, and industrial production—sectors critical for job creation and economic momentum.
He also noted Syria’s preparedness to enter a reconstruction phase after years of conflict, stressing that regional collaboration will be vital to rebuilding infrastructure, restoring livelihoods, and ensuring durable stability.
The tone of the visit reflected mutual respect and aligned priorities. Feelings of goodwill run both ways, with Egyptians and Syrians viewing renewed cooperation as a natural extension of shared history and regional responsibility. As economic ties strengthen and reconstruction plans advance, both sides appear poised to turn goodwill into measurable progress, together.
