She explained that prolonged wait times, delayed diagnoses, and high private healthcare costs in the UK ultimately made staying unsustainable for her health.

Bones: When “It’s Fine” Wasn’t Fine
Her first experience involved a hand injury sustained while playing football. After breaking her hand, she went to an emergency room in the UK, waited for hours, and was told there was no serious issue.
Unsatisfied and still in pain, she later sought medical attention in Egypt. There, a doctor immediately identified the injury as a fracture and confirmed that surgery was urgently needed.
The contrast, she said, was impossible to ignore.
Gynecology: Waiting Years for Answers
The second issue was gynecological, and even more frustrating. According to her, she was informed that the waitlist to see a gynecologist in the UK was approximately one year. As for a scope procedure, the expected wait time stretched to four years.
Private care was technically an option, but the cost, she said, was prohibitively expensive, placing timely treatment out of reach.
Access, Speed, and Pharmacies
Beyond hospital visits, she compared everyday healthcare access in both countries, including pharmacies. In Egypt, she noted, patients can consult doctors more quickly, obtain medications with ease, and avoid long delays.
Her point wasn’t that one system is perfect, but that faster access to care in Egypt in specific aspects challenges widely held perceptions about where “better” healthcare exists.
