The photo of a delivery woman, accompanied by her children—one in front of her and the other in the back seat—riding on a scooter, recently went viral on social media, sparking a storm of love and support. Maryam Hanafi, the dedicated delivery worker, shared her story, expressing surprise at the widespread attention the photo received.
“I’ve been in this field for a year and a half,” Hanafi explained, “and seeing people’s reactions to the photo was unexpected. The children in the picture are mine, and before starting my deliveries, I drop them off at my mother’s place in Manial.”
Despite holding a degree in management information systems, Hanafi recounted her challenges finding work in her field of study. “My husband has been my constant support from the beginning,” she added. “He works alongside me in delivery. Whenever my scooter breaks down, he’s the one who fixes it.”
Reflecting on her journey, Hanafi shared, “Not many know how hard I worked to buy that scooter, paying for it in installments with my own money. Despite the challenges I face, I’m determined to provide for my children. They’ve grown accustomed to my work routine, and I strive every day to balance my responsibilities.”
