What a Hero! Local animal catcher managed to rescue a dog from a 15-meter-deep sewage well!

Social media users circulated pictures of the operation to rescue a dog in Helwan, Cairo. The story that topped the trend during the past few hours, thankfully had a happy ending!

According to local news agencies and bystanders, a dog was tragically thrown into a deep sewage well and remained in it for days without food, and water, and was unable to move.

Civil protection operators failed to extract it due to the depth and the danger of the sewage fumes.

However, an angel sent from above was able to conduct the mission and save the dog’s precious life!

Walid Mahrous, a renowned animal rescuer was called in by the Egyptian Society for Mercy to Animals (ESMA) to the accident site where the dog had been wailing for almost 72 hours, unable to leave the well.

Mahrous recalled the desperate screams of the dog, “The mission was hard to conduct, and everyone refused to help, however, I couldn’t stand by and let an innocent life die.”

As the rescuer explained to Cairo24, the figuring out a recuse mission was the tricky part, as took them more than 5 hours to plan, but the mission itself lasted 10 minutes!

In a statement given to Al Arabiya and Cairo24, Mahrous tied a rope to a barrel, sat in it, and called a construction winch to lower him down the well, and thankfully, the dog understood he was being rescued and cooperated calmly.

The dog was rescued 10 minutes later, and according to Mahrous, he was transferred to an animal hospital to receive the necessary treatment and be sheltered.
