Uber Egypt Is Raising Its Prices After The Recent Fuel Hike

Owning a car is very costly so many Egyptian residents opted to take public transportation for every journey. Although this method can help them save money, that might not be the case in the long run and especially when fuel prices keep hiking.

In mid-July, Egypt’s Fuel Automatic Pricing Committee (FAPC) announced new prices for fuel.

Uber Egypt announced another price rise this year after raising prices in May

“We had to revise fare pricing on the app with a slight adjustment in light of the new fuel prices drivers are facing whilst ensuring that millions of riders can continue to move around cities safely and affordably,” the email read.

Here’s the breakdown per Uber car

UberX:

Cairo: The base fare has been raised from EGP8.5 to EGP9. The price per kilometre has been raised from EGP2.9 to EGP3.

Alexandria: The base fare has been raised from EGP8.3 to EGP8.7. The price per kilometre has been raised from EGP3 to EGP 8.3.

Uber X saver:

Cairo: The base fare has been raised from EGP7.25 to EGP7.8. The price per kilometre has been raised from EGP2.47 to EGP2.65.

Alexandria: The base fare has been raised from EGP7.71 to EGP7.7. The price per kilometre has been raised from EGP2.55 to EGP2.75

Uber comfort:

The base fare has been raised to EGP12.4, and the price per kilometre to EGP4.52.

Taxi service:

The base fare has been raised to EGP 7.60 and the price per kilometre to EGP2.80.
