A Sudanese landlord has come under fire after a controversial incident surfaced on Facebook. The post, shared by an Egyptian man, narrated his experience while searching for an apartment in Cairo. During his pursuit, he came across a listing and called the landlord to inquire if the apartment was still available for rent. To his surprise, the landlord flatly responded that he only rents out to Sudanese tenants.
This unusual rejection left the man questioning if this was normal practice. He expressed his disbelief, asking, “Is it acceptable for refugees and non-Egyptians to refuse to rent in our own country?”
The Facebook post quickly gained traction, sparking heated debates online. Some users sided with the landlord, arguing that foreigners should not be allowed to own property in Egypt. Others criticized the incident, defending the right of property owners to choose their tenants but expressing concerns about discriminatory practices in the rental market.
