El-Tijani’s Alleged Cult Is Sparking Controversy On Social Media After Sexual Harassment Claims Went Viral On Facebook

Last night, a woman named Khadija Khaled came forward claiming a widely followed Sufi Sheikh named Salah El Dein El Tijani sexually harassed her and sent her inappropriate pictures and messages while she was under his alleged religious mentorship.

In her post, Khadija explained that El Tajini sent her a pornographic image privately with the message “yearning,” which he quickly laughed off.

She then explained that she had gone into therapy to help her get over the cult’s influence, “This so-called to-be sheikh/ man was a father figure to me, it took me 7 years of therapy up till this day to be able to just go through life without him affecting me the way he ruined my life forever.”

Khadija’s supporters, and opposers:

khadija’s disturbing post has led social media users to rally in support, claiming that deceitful people should not hold any places of power and that she did well by bringing this story to light.

However, disturbingly enough, Khadija’s mother has shown blatant opposition to her daughter’s claims by commenting a link to each supporting message her daughter received that took commentators to a post on her page explaining that he daughter suffers from a mental disorder due to being bullied at school.

Now who’s this Salah El Dein El Tijani?

According to Khadija’s post and Salah El Dein El Tijani Lovers page on Facebook, Salah is a Sufi Sheikh who claims he has the highest rank after Prophet Muhammed PBUH. He also claims he can let his worshippers see him in his sensory and physical form in this life.

Khadija claimed that El Tijani’s orders are to be obeyed, not negotiable, and that he knows fate and destiny, not following him will lead to hell.

Salah El Dein El Tijani’s followers:

Salah has gained quite the popularity, not only among Egyptians but also among West Africans.

His follow base consists of more than 32 thousand people on his Facebook page alone, and strangely enough, they all adopt his name as their last.

Actors and critics:

As a reader, you would think Salah is only followed by common folk who are easily manipulated and deceived. However, as the news of his harassment came to life, people dug deep to find renowned Egyptian actors Alaa Morsy, Hagag Abdel Azim, and Nashwa Moustfa among his followers. Not only them, but some news agencies claim that he introduced  Somaya El Khashab and Ahmed Saad to each others!

What’s Tijaniyya?

The Tijaniyya is attributed to a man named Abu al-Abbas Ahmad al-Tijani, a religious scholar from Algeria born in 1737 in the village of Ain Madi, currently in the Laghouat Province of Algeria. He studied religion, developed a sense of asceticism, and became interested in spirituality.

The Tijaniyya teachings align with the basic tenets of Sunni Islam, such as the five daily prayers and belief in the Prophet Muhammad, but they incorporate some additional practices and unique beliefs.

Two main characteristics define this order: first, their belief in the possibility of a physical, sensory encounter with the Prophet during this worldly life, meaning they believe they can see him and greet him.

Their spiritual practice revolves around a specific form of prayer known as “Salat al-Fatih Lima Ughliq,” which is a unique formula of sending blessings on the Prophet that has no source.

Guess who was expelled by Tijania in Egypt? Salah himself!

The Head of Tijani Belief in Cairo announced in an official post that Salah El Dein El Tijani was expelled back in 2017 and 2019 for not following the belief accurately and inelligibility. Not only that, they explained in the post that he only works and represents himself and that he has no affiliation with the group in Egypt.
