In a recent development in Egyptian media, Al Mehwar satellite channel has suspended the popular sports program “El Remontada,” hosted by sports broadcaster, Captain Ahmed Hossam Mido. This decision follows the controversial termination of Ahmed Shobier’s contract by United Media Services Company, which stirred significant public discourse. Last Thursday, the cancellation of Shobier’s contract linked directly to his support for Shahd Saeed, a suspended athlete who planned to travel to the Paris Olympics.

Amid these unfolding events, Mido took to his “X” social media account to address the situation. He clarified that the suspension of “El Remontada” coincides with the natural expiration of his contract with Al Mehwar channel at the end of this month. He emphasized that there has been a mutual understanding between him and the channel’s management for months not to renew the contract. Mido firmly stated that the suspension of his program was not due to any violations related to the media content presented during his show.

In his heartfelt farewell post, Mido expressed his gratitude towards his team and the channel’s management. “I thank the program’s team for their great effort during the past period, and I thank the management of Al Mehwar channel for the last three years, wishing them success in what is to come. See you soon, God willing,” he wrote, hinting at his anticipated move to a new satellite channel.

However, this transition marks the end of an era and the beginning of a new chapter for Mido, as he continues to influence the sports broadcasting landscape. Fans and followers are eagerly awaiting his next role, as he leaves behind a legacy of impactful sports history.
