Amr Adeeb recently responded sharply to actor Mohamed Sobhy after Sobhy’s criticism of the film El Sett. Adeeb emphasized that there is a clear distinction between constructive criticism and revenge.
He expressed concern that Sobhy might have been trying to deflect attention from his own controversies by attacking others, particularly the film and its star, Mona Zaki.

In his comments about El Sett, Mohamed Sobhy accused certain parties of conspiring to undermine Egyptian art, with a particular focus on the film industry. He argued that the movie, which portrayed the legendary singer Umm Kalthoum, did a disservice to her legacy.
Sobhy took issue with Mona Zaki’s portrayal of the iconic figure, claiming that the film depicted Umm Kalthoum as cheap, a characterization he felt was far from the truth.
According to Sobhy, Umm Kalthoum was one of the kindest and most selfless people he had ever known, which contradicted the image painted in the film.
Amr Adeeb quickly fired back, making it clear that Sobhy’s remarks were more about personal frustration than genuine critique.
Adeeb criticized Sobhy for trying to shift the spotlight onto others in a negative way, especially when it seemed motivated by personal issues.
He stressed that while criticism is important in the arts, it should be based on facts and delivered in a professional manner, not as a tool to deflect attention or settle personal scores.
Amidst the ongoing debate, Mohamed Sobhy found himself embroiled in another controversy after an incident following a ceremony at the opera house. Sobhy was seen on video shouting at his driver for the keys, then leaving him running after the car as it drove away.

The footage quickly went viral, sparking mixed reactions online. Some criticized Sobhy for his harsh treatment of his driver, while others sympathized, pointing to Sobhy’s recent health struggles and the exhaustion he had been experiencing.
In response to the criticism, Mohamed Sobhy posted CCTV footage from that night on his Facebook page. The video aimed to clear up what he described as misinformation circulating about the incident, claims that his driver had been in the toilet at the time of the incident, asserting that this was not the case.
The footage revealed that the driver had actually been sitting while the crowd gathered around him, dispelling the earlier claims and offering a different perspective on the situation.
