Egypt Passes 20K Fine For Discrimination In The Workplace

Avatar

By imposing an EGP 20,000 punishment, a new labour regulation seeks to control workplace dynamics and encourage better work environments.

Any Egyptian found to be conducting workplace discrimination will be fined with EGP 20,000

The law will outlaw underpaying or unfairly rewarding employees and make it illegal to discriminate on the basis of one’s gender, race, religion, ability, social status, or political affiliation.

The severity of the offence, the number of employees that disobeyed the rules, and the frequency of the behaviour will all affect the sanctions.
