One of Cairo’s biggest transportation makeovers just rolled out, and it’s turning heads (in the best way). The all-new El Salam Bus Terminal has officially opened its doors to the public — and it’s giving order, style, and functionality all in one.
Located right at the entrance to El Salam City by the Ring Road, this multi-level terminal can handle up to 2,500 service and transport vehicles, across three full stories. It’s not just a stopover — it’s a whole mini city. The complex includes 224 shops, a mosque, bathrooms, ambulance services, cafes, and even dedicated service rooms.
But here’s the real win: the chaos is gone. The terminal has put an end to the random, unregulated microbus stops and shady “karta” collectors who once ruled the area. Informal vendors were also relocated into proper storefronts within the hub — turning clutter into structure.
According to city officials, this revamp is part of Egypt’s broader push to upgrade public services and bring more order to everyday life. It’s not just about traffic — it’s about improving how people experience the city, from smoother commutes to a cleaner, more respectful urban environment.
And people? They’re loving it.
One user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote,
“El Salam Terminal… I honestly can’t believe it. The beauty, the organization, the achievement — it’s unreal what’s happening in Egypt right now.”
Another added,
“This isn’t just a garage. It’s a blueprint for how to turn chaos into order. What was once the symbol of congestion and randomness is now a symbol of capability and pride.”
And one more summed it up perfectly:
“Egypt isn’t just building new cities — it’s renewing the old ones too. Dignity starts at the street level, and every citizen deserves order.”
The governor of Cairo, Dr. Ibrahim Saber, also emphasized the push to clean up and green the surrounding areas — from paving roads and refreshing sidewalks to adding more trees and greenery for a look that matches the new, modern hub.

Bottom line? El Salam is no longer just a place people pass through — it’s a proud statement of how far Cairo’s come, and a little glimpse into what’s possible when the city goes full glow-up mode.
