After the 1967 Naksa

In his speech, Galal recalled a story from after the 1967 war, which his father had told him.

According to the story, there was a rumor that Israel was planning to send its army to Cairo’s Tahrir Square. In response to this alleged threat, Galal’s father claimed that Algeria sent its own troops to defend Egypt.

Galal shared this story with the audience, reflecting his father’s admiration for Algeria and its support for Egypt in a time of need.

But The Story Sparked Backlash…

Many Egyptians and Algerians were shocked by the narrative, with some questioning its accuracy.

The rumor about Algeria sending troops to defend Egypt was not widely known, and people took to social media to express their opinions, with some accusing Galal of spreading misinformation or misrepresenting history.

“The Roles Are Known”

After receiving significant criticism, Yasser Galal responded on his social media accounts. He posted a video in which he doubled down on his father’s story, insisting that what he shared was true.

Galal emphasized that his intention was not to offend anyone but to highlight the bond between Egypt and Algeria, adding that Egyptians, Algerians, and the entire Arab region are united as one.

Apology

Despite his initial defense of the story, Galal later posted another video on his social media to apologize for any misunderstanding.

In this video, he clarified that he meant no harm to either country and that his intentions were purely positive.

He expressed regret that his words had caused any offense and reassured his followers that he respected both Egypt and Algeria deeply.
