Egypt Beat Ivory Coast to Reach AFCON 2026 Semifinals
Egypt recorded a 3–2 victory over Ivory Coast in the AFCON 2026 quarter-finals and will face Senegal in the semifinals on Wednesday, January 14.
Early Lead and Strong Performance
Egypt got off to a strong start in the quarter-final match against Ivory Coast, with Omar Marmoush scoring in the 3rd minute, making one of the fastest goals in the tournament. Ivory Coast responded during the game, but Egypt stayed focused, creating opportunities and controlling key moments.
Defender Ramy Rabie doubled Egypt’s lead shortly after the half-hour mark, giving the team a stronger advantage, then Mo Salah added a third goal, taking the match firmly in Egypt’s favor.
