Egypt To Utilize AI For Mummy Restoration And Documentation

For the first time ever: Egypt to utilize AI tools for Mummy Restoration and Documentation!

In a collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism and The Atomic Energy Authority, Egypt is set to launch the first-of-its-kind workshop for mummy restoration and documentation through the usage of Nuclear, Radiological, and Artificial intelligence.

The workshop will be organized by the Department of Restoration of Mummies and Human Remains.

The workshop will last for 3 days and will include experts from the Ministry, the Authority of Atomic Energy, and the Faculty of Archaeology from Cairo University.

The head of the Central Department for Maintenance and Restoration at the Ministry Manal Abdel Moneim stated that the Atomic Authority’s laboratories are equipped with advanced technologies that are crucial to examining, analyzing, and maintaining human remains without negatively affecting them.

The technologies used will be explained by Scientists during the workshop in an extensive manner.

Additionally, the director of The Mummy Restoration Department, Rania Ahmed stated that the use of Artificial Intelligence is of great importance as it serves the current scientific movement, and offers a non-invasive method that protects Egyptian mummies, and therefore, Egyptian Heritage.

Rania Ahmed also stated that this is the first time AI to be used on Mummies and human remains and that it will be used in restoration work.
