An Egyptian athlete has officially earned a spot in the Guinness World Records after finishing the 2025 London Marathon—now the largest marathon finish in history, with over 56,000 runners crossing the finish line.

Among the record-breaking crowd was Mariz Doss, an Egyptian coach with Adidas Runners and a passionate long-distance athlete. By completing the race, she officially became part of a Guinness World Record — and now holds a certificate to prove it.
What makes her finish even more remarkable is the journey it took to get there. Just last year, Mariz was unable to walk after completing the Rome Marathon with injured knees and summiting mountains in Ecuador.
She spent six months in recovery — a period she’s described as slow, frustrating, and emotional.
Through rehab and setbacks, she stayed committed to the belief that her body still had more to give. She trained, healed, and came back stronger.
She not only prevailed at the London Marathon, but just six days earlier, she completed the Boston Marathon too.
That’s two of the world’s major marathons in one week.
Crossing both finish lines — especially one that marked a world record — was not only a personal achievement, but a moment that brought pride to many who’ve followed her journey.
From injury to international recognition, Mariz proved that comebacks can be historic.
