Egyptians Still Can’t Get Over the AFCON Final Ending…and the Reactions Just Keep Coming!

The CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 final delivered way more than football, turning into an absolute spectacle that had Egyptians glued to every moment… and Even Two Days Later, Reactions Are Still Pouring In!

About the Match

The match was extremely tense. Both teams were strong defensively, and after a tense 0-0 at full time, extra time saw Senegal have a goal disallowed and Morocco awarded a controversial penalty, leading to heated arguments on the pitch. Frustrated, Senegal briefly walked off while fans jumped barriers, threw objects, and dismantled parts of the electronic boards, forcing stewards and riot police to intervene. Once play resumed, Senegal scored in extra time to claim a 1-0 victory.

Egyptian Fans Divided

Egyptian fans were deeply divided in their support. Many Egyptians rooted for Senegal, believing they deserved the win after the chaotic incidents on the pitch, while others cheered for Morocco, applauding their players for staying composed and respectful despite the controversial moments. Social media exploded with debates and memes, and most fans seemed to be celebrating Senegal’s victory.

Egyptian sports content creator Marawan Serry recently took to social media to share that he personally supported Morocco, wondering why some Egyptians were doing otherwise. He reminded both Egyptian and Moroccan fans not to focus on individual mistakes or minor incidents that could create unnecessary tensions. Marawan highlighted how Moroccans had welcomed Egyptians warmly throughout the tournament and urged viewers to focus on the bigger picture rather than letting the actions of a few spark division or anger.
