When Cairo Wood Workers challenged local makers to turn wooden pallets into creative games, one Belgian designer living in Egypt had a brilliant twist.

Usually crafting toys for kids, she decided to make something special this time — a game for dogs! Not just any dogs, but both pampered pets and the clever street dogs of Cairo.
Using over 80% of the recycled wood, she built El Haraka Baraka — a spinning roller toy that drops treats through little holes as it turns. The concept was simple, but the impact would be huge.
Before the game was even finished, her four-legged testers were already eager to join in. Some dogs figured out the game quickly, while others took their time exploring it. Every wag, nudge, and sniff helped improve the design.
Whether street-smart strays or beloved family pets, all the dogs played their part — and earned their snacks along the way.
El Haraka Baraka became more than just a game. It’s a little bridge connecting creativity, care, and the simple joy of canine play.
