Mohamed Alabbar, the Emirati businessman and founder of Emaar and Eagle Hills, recently shared some heartwarming thoughts about Egypt and its people. Speaking at the Billion Followers Summit 2026, Alabbar didn’t hold back: “I love Egypt. The Egyptian people are amazing.”
He reflected on his experiences traveling to Europe, where even simple things like entering a hotel can feel complicated. “We speak a Middle Eastern language, and suddenly immigration officers ask so many questions: Where are you from? How long will you stay? Why are you here?” he explained. “I’ll spend around £1,500 at your hotel, pay VAT and other taxes… and still have to answer all these questions. Will you let me in?”

Meanwhile, in Egypt, it’s completely different. “When you arrive,” Alabbar said, “they love you from the tarmac. I love them.”
For Alabbar, it’s more than just a friendly reception — it’s the ease, warmth, and genuine hospitality that make Egypt unforgettable. His words remind us why the country continues to leave a lasting impression on everyone who visits, whether for business, travel, or just to experience its vibrant culture.
In a world full of rules and red tape, Alabbar’s love letter to Egypt is simple: it’s the people, their kindness, and the way they make you feel at home from the very first moment.
