Riham Abdelghafour Speaks Out After Inappropriate Photos from Her Film Premiere Circulate Online

After several photos from the premiere of her film “New Year’s Map” circulated online in an inappropriate manner, Egyptian actress Riham Abdelghafour addressed the issue on her Facebook account.

In a post late Tuesday, Abdelghafour wrote:
“It was a dark day when phones came with cameras, giving despicable people the chance to feed on cheap targets.”

The actress launched a strong response on social media after the unauthorized images and videos from her film premiere were shared, which she considered offensive. In her Facebook post, she expressed her frustration over the invasion of her privacy and the disrespectful content being circulated.

Actors’ Syndicate Takes Action

The Egyptian Actors’ Syndicate confirmed that it will not tolerate any pages or individuals who damage the reputation of Egypt or harm Egyptian artists by taking and sharing photos or videos without permission, or posting them in a misleading or offensive context. Syndicate President Ashraf Zaki stated that legal actions have already been initiated against those involved.

The Syndicate emphasized that what recently occurred, particularly the incident involving Riham Abdelghafour, constitutes a blatant and unacceptable violation, directly harming the image of Egyptian cinema.

Zaki added in a statement:
“I will not let this go, and I will confront these violations through the law, without leniency or favoritism.”

He clarified that the Syndicate will pursue all parties found responsible for sharing or promoting offensive content, whether individuals, pages, or digital platforms.

The Syndicate also called on responsible media outlets, websites, and press institutions to stand in solidarity with the organization, oppose these unprofessional practices, and work to prevent the spread of content that harms both the profession and Egypt’s reputation.

Finally, the Syndicate stressed that freedom of the press does not justify chaos or violations of privacy. It reaffirmed its commitment to protecting its members and defending their dignity through all legal means, and warned that any current or future abuse will be met with strict action.
