A tragic incident unfolded during a school trip to Abu Talat Beach in Alexandria, leaving six students dead and 24 others injured after being swept away by strong currents.
According to Al Masry Al Youm, the tragedy began when a female student left the group activity taking place on the shore and entered the water alone. When she began drowning, lifeguards and rescue teams rushed to save her. However, in the chaos, more than 100 other students attempted to enter the sea to help their colleague. Many were caught in the powerful waves, leading to multiple drownings and injuries.

Emergency services responded immediately, pulling dozens of students from the water and transferring the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment. Despite their efforts, six students were confirmed dead.
Local authorities have since closed Abu Talat Beach and raised red-flag warnings across the area, prohibiting swimming due to hazardous sea conditions. Officials stressed the importance of adhering to safety regulations and beach warnings to prevent such tragedies in the future.
The incident has cast a shadow of grief over Alexandria, sparking urgent conversations about beach safety and supervision during school trips.
