The Unmatched Ramadan’ Crescent Sightings Brought Out the Fun Side of Egyptians and the Arab World

This year, the topic of Ramadan crescent sightings became a source of laughter and fun on social media more than ever.

Every year, the start of Ramadan can differ slightly between countries depending on when the crescent moon is seen after sunset. This year, some Arab countries, including the GCC, announced they had spotted the moon and began fasting, while others decided to complete 30 days of Sha’ban and start Ramadan the next day.

For Egyptians, known for their sense of humor, this quickly turned from an official announcement into a full-on comedy show online.

People in Saudi Arabia and across the Gulf started Ramadan right away, embracing the spiritual energy and beginning their fast. Meanwhile, Egyptians and some other Arab countries got an extra day, which led to tons of memes about waiting, coffee, and last-minute Ramadan routines. The jokes weren’t limited to one country… they even reached the West, where Egyptians and Arabs abroad were left confused, unsure of which announcement to follow.

So the crescent moon didn’t just determine fasting schedules; it also sparked laughter and fun across the region, and everyone was here for it.
