Queen Mary’s Morning at the Giza Plateau

Queen Mary of Denmark began her visit at the Pyramids of Giza as dawn broke over the iconic plateau. Standing before the Pyramids and the Great Sphinx, the last surviving Wonder of the Ancient World, she marveled at Egypt’s ancient glory.

Later, she visited the Grand Egyptian Museum, capturing a stunning photo in front of King Tutankhamun’s golden mask — a perfect blend of history and admiration.

She also attended a reception hosted by the Danish Ambassador, where she met Danish nationals living in Egypt as well as Egyptian icons such as Mohamed Zidan and Yousra.

The Danish Embassy in Cairo even shared an Instagram story featuring Yousra’s song 3 Daqat on the official account, highlighting a moment of cultural connection and celebration.

King Philippe’s Historic Exploration

Meanwhile, King Philippe of Belgium embarked on his own royal journey.

After attending the GEM inauguration, he toured Saqqara and Abusir alongside the renowned Egyptologist Dr. Zahi Hawass and Belgium’s Ambassador. At Saqqara, the King admired the colorful carvings and praised the unmatched craftsmanship and precision of Egyptian art with none other than Dr. Zahi Hawass.

Deeply impressed by what he saw, King Philippe promised to return for further exploration, captivated by Egypt’s timeless history.

Before the GEM opening, the King also met with the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, one of Old Cairo’s most respected spiritual leaders, and took a tour around the city’s historic streets, further experiencing the spiritual and cultural heart of Egypt.
