Yesterday, the normally bustling city of Zagazig was shaken by a tragic incident when two passenger trains collided. This lead to a heartbreaking loss of life and numerous injuries. The Health Ministry reported that the accident claimed three lives, including two children, while 49 other passengers sustained various injuries.
In the immediate aftermath of the collision, Minister of Industry and Transport, Kamel El-Wazir, along with officials from the Egyptian Railway Authority (ERA), swiftly rushed to the scene. The Minister ordered the deployment of emergency equipment and cranes to expedite rescue operations. (According to ERA)
Minister El-Wazir also called for a thorough investigation to determine if any technical faults contributed to the collision. While details on the cause remain under review, the minister’s swift action demonstrates the government’s commitment to uncovering the truth and preventing such tragedies in the future.
