The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced earlier that the ministry has commenced new four Solar Power stations across Egyptian historical sites and museums.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The project comes within the framework of activating <\/span>the memorandum\u00a0of understanding<\/span> that was signed last November, which was signed on the sidelines of <\/span>COP27 which was recently held in Sharm El Sheikh.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n He also added that the implementation of the project comes within the framework of commencing the Ministry’s plan, represented by the Supreme Council of Antiquities.<\/p>\n The plan aims to transform museums and archaeological sites into green sites that depend on solar energy as a sustainable and more economically feasible alternative to electric energy.<\/p>\n Thus contributing to preserving, protecting, rehabilitating, and benefiting from cultural heritage of all kinds. In achieving the sustainable development strategy for Egypt 2030.<\/p>\n Hisham Samir, Assistant Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Antiquities and Museums Projects, told Al-Masry Al-Youm that the implementation of solar power plants in the targeted archaeological sites aims to promote the use of small solar cell systems.<\/p>\n He noted that the memorandum of understanding that was signed last November came in cooperation between the Supreme Council of Antiquities, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Industrial Modernization Center (IMC) – small solar cell systems project – the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization “UNESCO” and the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization ISESCO.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n\n
