In a tragic incident, 12 people were killed and dozens injured after a bus carrying university students overturned on Monday in Cairo, according to the Ministry of Health. The bus was transporting students from Al-Galala University back to Cairo when the accident occurred on Al-Galala Road, near Ain Sokhna. The students were returning to their dormitory after a day of classes.<\/span><\/p>\n In a statement, Suez Governor Tarek El-Shazly confirmed that the bus was coming from Galala and heading towards Ain Sokhna. The bus collided with the street island in the middle of the road and overturned.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Emergency services were quickly dispatched, with over 25 ambulances sent to the scene. The injured students were taken to the Suez Medical Complex, although authorities have yet to disclose their conditions. Suez Governor Tarek El-Shazly confirmed that local authorities are actively assessing the situation.<\/span><\/p>\n The Public Prosecution has been notified to open an official investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. This tragic event has renewed concerns about road safety and the condition of public transport vehicles, particularly on busy highways.<\/span><\/p>\n Some students reported that they had requested the driver to avoid this route due to many accidents occurring, but the driver did not respond and ignored them. They added, the bus overturned several times because the driver was speeding, losing control and failing to stop in time.<\/span><\/p>\n This is not the first accident to occur on Al-Galala Road, which has seen similar tragedies in the past.
