Last Saturday, Egyptian Authorities confirmed the discovery of a new Royal Tomb in Luxor in Southern Egypt. Mostafa Waziri, the Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities confirmed that a joint Egyptian-British mission found the tomb in the Valley of Kings excavation site on the west bank of the Nile in Luxor. The initial checks of the tomb show that the tomb appears to date back to the 18th Dynasty of Egypt. The tomb is also located near Tutankhamun’s which was discovered over a century ago!<\/p>\n

Mission directors confirmed that the tomb could belong to Queens and Princesses from the same dynasty. However, it is not well preserved due to floods that date back to ancient periods. The floods caused the room to be submerged with sand and limestones which caused the inscriptions to wear off. Waziri also state that more information regarding the discovery would be available once its archaeologically documented.<\/p>\n
