Amidst the news of the film\u2019s ban, Ibrahim Eissa took to X (formerly Twitter) to reflect on past instances of censorship, expressing his belief that banning is ultimately ineffective. He remarked, \u201cWhat did the great Naguib Mahfouz do when they banned his novel \u2018Children of Our Alley\u2019? He wrote a new novel.\u201d He continued, \u201cWhat did the great Abdel Rahman Al-Sharqawi do when they banned his play \u2018Hussein the Rebel\u2019? He wrote a new play. \u2018Children of Our Alley\u2019 and \u2018Hussein the Rebel\u2019 continued to be read by generation after generation, their words immortal in our hearts and minds.\u201d<\/p>\n
