As part of a new deal, Pfizer will manufacture its COVID-19 vaccine in Saudi Arabia. This deal is designed to keep the kingdom competitive in the biotechnology sector.
According to the Gulf News, the Saudi Ministry of Industry, the King Abdullah International Centre for Medical Research (Kimar), and the Pfizer Scientific Foundation have agreed to lay the groundwork for the production of viral and genetic vaccines in the Kingdom.
Saudi Arabia has also signed preliminary agreements with AstraZeneca to produce vaccines locally and strengthen its medical research capabilities.
