An Expat In Saudi Is Caught Trying To Smuggle Out Huge Amounts Of Money In His Socks

Saudi netizens recently saw their social media feeds getting flooded with the story of a smuggling attempt being foiled.

In a now viral video a man is seen unfolding his socks revealing bundles of 100 and 500 Riyal notes underneath.

He was in the airport on his way to fly out of the country when his attempt to carry the hordes of cash was foiled.

The amount of money he had stashed in his socks is believed to be around SAR 600,000

The incident happened at the King Fahad International Airport in Dammam. The online portal Akhbaar 24 reports that the expat who attempted the smuggle hailed from India.

The official spokesman for the General Committee of Customs, Isa Al Isa, said that the man was caught minutes before he boarded his flight.

The matter has since then been transferred to the customs department and an investigation in the case has been launched.
