The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) just dropped a new update for the 1447H/2026 Eid al-Fitr prayers. To keep everyone safe and comfortable, they’ve decided to move things indoors this year. If you usually head to the open-air squares, you’ll want to read this first so you don’t miss the start!

For this year, the traditional outdoor Musallas and public squares will be taking a break. Instead, the Ministry has announced that prayers will be held exclusively inside designated Friday mosques across the country. It’s all about ensuring a safe environment for everyone while we celebrate.

Timing is everything on Eid morning! Make sure you’re ready and in your spot early because the prayer is scheduled for exactly 5:53 AM. Since everything is happening indoors, space might fill up faster than usual, so grabbing your spot ahead of time is definitely the way to go.
The Ministry is keeping things efficient to help manage the crowds. The entire service, including the prayer and the Khutbah (sermon), will last no longer than 15 minutes. It’s a quick but powerful way to start your holiday before heading off to enjoy breakfast and festivities with your favorite people.
