At the end of a heated CONCACAF Gold Cup match between Mexico and Qatar on Monday at Levi’s Stadium, a man was reportedly stabbed and is now in critical condition.

The victim was wearing a Mexican jersey numbered 22 and was involved in a fight that broke out in the stadium

According to Mexican local news, the unidentified victim is currently receiving medical attention at a hospital after suffering a “critical” stab wound close to his collarbone.

Detectives came to the conclusion that the victim was stabbed during an altercation with the perpetrator, who subsequently fled the scene, based on witness testimony and camera evidence.

Despite Mexico dominating the game, it ended 1-0 in favour of Qatar.

Two images were released by the local Santa Clara Police Department in connection with the ongoing hunt for a man thought to be the attacker and a woman who is thought to be a person of interest.

The person thought to be the perpetrator is described as a Hispanic male between the ages of 25 and 35 who was last seen sporting a green shirt for the Mexican national team.

Authorities reported that a Hispanic woman who was also donning a football jersey from the Mexican national team was with the suspect.
