On Monday, the Cairo Criminal Court made a pivotal decision in the case involving the accused perpetrator responsible for the deaths of three Egyptians in Qatar. The court has taken the step to refer the case papers to the Mufti, seeking his legal opinion on the potential execution of the accused. A session has been scheduled for September 8 to announce the court’s ruling following the Mufti’s response.
The accused, identified as a 43-year-old ceramic tiler from Ezbet Al-Marjoushi, Bahtim, Shubra Al-Kheima in Egypt’s Qalyubia Governorate, is alleged to have committed the crimes during his stay in Qatar. Initially traveling to the country for the 2022 World Cup events, he remained after encountering difficulties finding employment. It was during this period that he allegedly perpetrated the killings.

According to investigations, the accused had been hosted by the victims, who offered him accommodation and assistance in finding work. However, a tragic turn of events unfolded when the accused reportedly killed two individuals with the intention of theft, later taking the life of a third victim to prevent exposure of his crimes.
Authorities in Qatar initiated an investigation, identifying the perpetrator with assistance from surveillance footage. Subsequently, coordination between Qatari authorities, Interpol, and Egyptian officials led to the arrest of the accused upon his arrival at Cairo International Airport.
The case has drawn attention for its tragic nature and the legal proceedings now underway to determine justice for the victims. As developments unfold, the community and concerned parties await the forthcoming court decision in September.
