Meteorology Department Shared Update

The Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) chimed in, noting that the Arabian Peninsula is seeing scattered dust storms. These storms are expected to hit Qatar soon. QMD also warned that these conditions could seriously reduce visibility, so everyone should be extra cautious.

Safety Tips Were Highlighted

Here are some tips for students during sandstorms:

  1. Protect your eyes when leaving the house. Wear sunglasses or protective eyewear to avoid irritation.
  2. Wear a mask before going outside. If you don’t have a mask, use a clean tissue or cloth to cover your nose and mouth.
  3. Remain indoors at school once you arrive. Do not go outside unless necessary.
  4. Do not rub your eyes. If your eyes feel itchy, wash them with clean water instead of rubbing.
  5. If you have asthma or respiratory issues: Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully during such weather. If you feel dizzy or have difficulty breathing, inform a nurse or teacher immediately.
