The ‘Semaisma’ ship, the fourth and final Air Defence Corvette of the Al Zubarah class, was delivered to Qatar on Tuesday by the Italian shipbuilding company Fincantieri.

Italy just delivered a warfare vessel to Doha

It is the fourth and last corvette of the Al Zubarah class that the Qatari Ministry of Defence had bought earlier from Fincantieri as part of the country’s naval acquisition programme.

It was delivered today at the Muggiano (La Spezia) shipyard.

Diplomats from both countries as well as representatives from the defence ministry were there, according to the Italian firm.

The most recent ship was delivered as part of a 2016 agreement between Qatar and the Italian business for the purchase of four corvettes, one amphibious ship, and two offshore patrol vessels.
