A Man Was Arrested In Doha For Throwing Cash At Spectators
It’s a common tradition among families to give an eidiya or cash to children and teens. It’s something the kiddos of the family look forward to, even some adults. What isn’t common is an eidiya being passed to strangers. It may seem like a kind gesture but others may find it disrespectful and distasteful.
Over the Eid al Fitr break, a video went viral on social media, showing a man standing on a balcony in Doha Corniche, throwing money at spectators

This action landed the man in hot waters with authorities, in fact, he was arrested
The Qatar Ministry of Interior referred the man to the Public Prosecution and legal action will be taken against him.
The video was highly criticised online with some thinking his actions were a sign of disrespect and others thinking he was simply trying to spread a little Eid cheer.
