Avatar

Doha-born athlete Mariam Farid competed in the Women’s 400-meter hurdles event while representing her nation at the 17th World Athletics Championship in Doha in 2019.

Farid was the first female Qatari athlete to compete in the global championships

She finished in her heat with a time of 1m 09.49s, a personal best, and gained notice abroad.

Her team singlet was tucked into a full-body black unitard. In 2016, she had previously raced in the 200m at the Junior World Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland, with a time of 30.25s in her heat.
