The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf), represented by the Zakat Affairs Department, has announced the Zakat Al Fitr amount for 1446 AH in Qatar.
This amount follows Shariah rulings and aligns with the staple diet of the country’s residents. The ministry set it at 2.5 kg of rice, equivalent to 15 Qatari riyals when paid in cash. This decision is based on a study of rice prices in local markets.

Zakat Al Fitr is an obligation for every capable Muslim. It purifies the fasting person from idle talk and wrongdoing. It also helps the poor and needy, reinforcing Islam’s principles of compassion and solidarity. The ministry stressed that food remains the primary form of Zakat Al Fitr, as practiced during the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) time.
The Ministry of Awqaf urges Muslims to pay Zakat Al Fitr early. This allows the Zakat Affairs Department to distribute it as food to those in need within Qatar at the right time. Paying on time ensures the poor can celebrate Eid with joy.
