Earlier today, the Ministry of Municipality tweeted that a video showing an outbreak of desert locusts on social media was fake.

A video revealing a swarm of locusts in Qatar went viral earlier this week

Apparently, the video is actually from 2019.

The Department of Agricultural Affairs informed the Central Region FAO Desert Locust Control Authority to look into the situation based on the video.

The authority stated that there had been no such outbreak and that the local situation was steady.

The ministry also revealed that the Ministry of Municipality’s Agricultural Affairs Department is making plans to send technical teams to all of Qatar’s regions to monitor and survey desert locust populations.
