According to Qatar’s Monthly Statistics Bulletin, there were an alarming 54% more deaths overall in just one month, rising from 13 to 20.

However, the data also showed a 12.6% increase in traffic offences

In total, there were 704 occurrences of general traffic accidents, down from 779 the year before, according to the statistics.

The number of general minor accidents fell from 727 to 647, while the number of severe accidents fell from 39 to 37.

The PSA report also highlighted a drop in minor accidents overall, with the exception of Dukhan, highlighting Al Mamoura and Al Rayaan as having the greatest reductions.

Traffic accidents in Qatar have stabilised and have been trending downward since the World Cup was hosted last year, despite an increase in traffic offences.

In order to apply for a driving licence in Qatar, one must pass a theory test on safe driving techniques, road signs and traffic laws.
