Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the prime minister and foreign minister of the Gulf country, met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to address issues such as global food security and the recently expired Black Sea grain agreement.

During an official visit to Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, on Friday, Qatar pledged $100 million in humanitarian aid to the country

During a conference on Friday, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that “this money will be channelled for reconstruction in the health and education sectors, humanitarian de-mining, and other significant social and humanitarian projects.”

The huge humanitarian aid package aims to strengthen the European nation’s infrastructure and social services while assisting in its ongoing recovery.

Qatar is also providing 50 scholarships for Ukrainian students to study at prestigious Qatari universities in addition to the humanitarian relief.

Through this scholarship programme, Ukrainian students will have access to top-notch instruction in a variety of academic subjects, assisting in the creation of a skilled labour force that will contribute to the socioeconomic development of Ukraine.

The action is taken at a crucial juncture when Ukraine needs assistance from abroad to reconstruct its country and solidify its internal and foreign policy.
