Qatar has implemented a new regulation, effective from today, September 1, 2024, that prevents individuals with unpaid traffic fines from leaving the country. Whether traveling by land, air, or sea, anyone with outstanding fines will be restricted from departing until all dues are cleared.
This decision was announced by the Ministry of Interior (MoI) during a press conference held on May 22, 2024. The move is part of a broader effort to enforce traffic regulations and ensure road safety.

To encourage the settlement of outstanding fines, the ministry is offering a 50% discount on traffic violations. Initially valid from June 1 to August 31, 2024, the discount period has been extended until November 30, 2024. Payments can be made through various channels, including the Metrash2 app, the MOI website, traffic sections, and unified service centers.
Residents are urged to take advantage of this discount period to avoid any disruptions to their travel plans. The General Directorate of Traffic emphasizes the importance of adhering to traffic regulations and the prompt settlement of fines to ensure smooth and hassle-free travel experiences.
